2025 - 2026 NP Residents
Britney Burns
I am originally from Pinson, AL but currently reside in Pelham, AL with my husband and four children. I attended Berea College in Berea, KY, to earn my undergraduate BSN in 2004. I then completed my Master's Degree in Nursing-Teaching/Learning at the University of North Alabama in 2021 and my Post-Masters Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2025. I came to Cahaba Medical Care because I am a product of a neglected family that was blessed to have overcome many barriers. I wanted to give back and serve in any way I could. The mission and vision of Cahaba Medical Care really resonated with me, and I feel God led me here. I also really loved the idea of extra training in primary care, which I felt I needed more of after school. I want to be an excellent primary care provider, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn and train in a supportive and safe environment. When I am not working, which I love, I enjoy spending time with my kids, who participate in various sports, watching college football or other sports, or traveling when time allows. I also enjoy reading a good book and spending time with friends and family.

I'm originally from Oxford, AL and have lived in Birmingham for the past seven years. I completed both undergraduate and graduate degrees at UAB. I chose Cahaba Medical Care and its NPR because it felt like a calling. I'm passionate about "paying it forward" and strongly believe in the healing power of humanity. I feel these ideas closely align with Cahaba Medical Care's principles, and it makes me beyond excited to be able to do what I love for a company I love, serving a population I love. When I'm not working, I'm usually at a farmer's market or a local greenhouse, buying new plants. I also enjoy trying new restaurants that pop up in Birmingham, spending time outdoors or with friends/family, and traveling.

Iām originally from Springville, Alabama. I completed my BSN and DNP degrees at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I was drawn to Cahaba Medical Care because of its mission to provide compassionate and quality care to underserved communities. I am passionate about working with underserved communities and knew that joining the team at Cahaba Medical Care would allow me to pursue my passion alongside like-minded individuals. Participating in the NPR Program at Cahaba Medical Care is another way I can pursue my passion, learning from professionals the skills and knowledge needed to best serve these communities. Outside of medicine, I enjoy gardening, crafting, and spending time outdoors with my friends and family. I serve at my church in the worship and nursery ministries and love to participate in local and global mission opportunities. I am married and have two cats, Tobi and Gwyn.

I am originally from Winfield, AL. I have lived in Tuscaloosa for the past seven years. I attended Bevill State for ADN/ UA for BSN, MSN. I came to Cahaba Medical Care because during my interview, everyone seemed so caring and genuine. They did not just care about filling a position; they cared about you as a person. I wanted more than just a job and to get through the day. I want a career that I love and enjoy, and I believe Cahaba Medical Care will help me achieve that. I am married and have three kids (two boys and one girl). We live in Tuscaloosa, AL. My husband is in the Navy and works as a manager at Men's Warehouse. Asher just turned 5. Bellamy is 2. Raelani is 5 months old. We love hanging out with family, watching movies/football, and cooking meals together.

I am originally from Montgomery, AL. Currently I live in Lakeview, AL. I completed some of my undergraduate courses at UA, then attended Shelton State for LPN training, followed by Snead State Community College for ADN, and ultimately earned my BSN and MSN from Chamberlain University. I have always been passionate about serving and finding ways to improve care for underserved communities. I have a close friend with type 1 diabetes who has had a very hard life. He grew up in a low-income family and never had health insurance. He can't afford his insulin and can't keep a job due to frequent hospitalizations for DKA. I have always felt like there has to be a better way for people like my friend to receive the care they need. I completed my clinical hours in the FNP program at Cahaba Medical Care in West Blocton with Catrina, and I loved how passionate she is about her patients. I watched her and the rest of the team go above and beyond for all their patients, and I wanted to be a part of that culture. Outside of medicine, I am married and have 2 daughters. Lily is 8 and Ella is 4. I love spending time with my family, watching football, hiking, going out on the lake, and really anything outdoors.
